Welcome to a new weekly blog feature where I share new releases, Christian book news, and other musings about reading (and maybe writing) and I open up the comments to both authors and readers to discuss a topic.
New Releases
In this section I’ll feature new Christian book releases. They might not have come out this week but they’re still very new. Some of them may even be pre-orders, so watch the publication dates. These are full price books.
Christian Book News
Perhaps you’ve heard of American gospel singer, songwriter, fashion designer, actress, entrepreneur, author and creative director, Kierra Sheard-Kelly. She’s written a new book, Big, Bold and Beautiful published by Zonderkidz for teens and young women.
Full of scriptures, prayers, and advice on navigating life, finding your joy, and living the life God meant for you to lead. With short, encouraging chapters it will help you to identify your goals, talents, and unique gifts, and give you the encouragement to boldly live out your faith.
Watch or read UrbanFaith.com’s interview with Kierra Sheard-Kelly here.
Could You Write The Entire Bible by Hand?
I found an article about a woman who did and it’s sure to get you to take a closer look at your own spiritual life. The woman’s name is Caroline Campbell, and she has Down syndrome. Sparked by a comment her pastor father made, Caroline began writing every word of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. It took her nine years and ended up being over 10,000 handwritten pages filling 43 binders. She said, “I want to inspire people to learn the Bible.”
She’s certainly inspired me and I hope you’ll read the full article and be inspired, too.
Discussion Topic of the Week
Do you think reading fiction (opposed to reading only the Bible or Christian non-fiction books) can make us better Christians?
