About Me

I’m Tattie. Yes, that’s my real name, not a pen name. No, I didn’t misspell it. It really does begin with a “T”. I live in rural southwest Missouri with my husband (who was also my high school sweetheart) and my daughter. I am a homeschool teacher, Amish author, blogger, and all around creative person. When I’m not finding treasures for the site I’m teaching math, cooking up my own vegetarian recipes, playing and singing old hymns on the ukulele, or playing fetch with my rescue dog, Pickles.

I don’t do social media. The best way to interact with me is to leave a blog comment, reply to the newsletter, or drop me an email at hello@ChristianBookFinds.com.

The History of Christian Book Finds

In August of 2011 I created a blog to share all the great books I was finding on sale. After running the site by myself for a few years I partnered with Laura Marshall, a friend and fellow author, and together we ran the site for a time.

In 2017 I decided to write full time and spend more time homeschooling my daughter, so Laura took the site and ran it for a few years.

She began working long hours and had other issues that prevented her from giving her best to the readers of this site and at the end of July, 2021 she contacted me and asked if she could pass the site back to me.

At the time I was building a new career in blogging and was ecstatic to have the opportunity. I began right away building a new website and here we are. It’s been so great having the site back. It feels like seeing my blog baby all grown up.

Neither one of us ever got rich running this site but it’s been a blessing and a ministry we both hold dear to our hearts.

So that’s the story of Christian Book Finds, which started as a Blogger blog ten years ago in August, 2011.

Thanks for over ten great years and I hope you stick around for another decade.

Tips for Using The Site

There are a few things I wish everyone knew when using this site.

  • Prices change quickly. Not all deals will still be deals by the time you find the post. Watch prices carefully.

  • Amazon (and I) need to make some money. Because of this, there are measures in place to limit free books. Not all the rules for this are up to me, but I promise to do my best to report all the best deals in a timely fashion.

  • We’re not just about cheap books. On the blog you’ll find articles about Christian books, book reviews, and discussions about books in general.

  • I can’t post every book and you wouldn’t want me to. If you see a deal on another site and wonder why I didn’t post it, it could be that I felt the books I had for the day were better, or that I already posted it on a previous day, or I was planning on posting it another day, or it’s possible I just missed it. I’m human, after all, but I do have OCD like tendencies when it comes to searching for daily finds.

  • I can’t put the books on sale, I can only report what I find. (You wouldn’t believe how many people don’t know this.)

  • If a post says “or less” it really does mean there could be books that are less than that. Sometimes I see prices like $3.49 or $3.95 and so I just say “or less.” Sometimes I throw a $2.99 book in with the $3.99 or less because there’s no room anywhere else. And I’ve thrown “or less” into my blog template so sometimes it’s just there when it really doesn’t need to be.

  • I appreciate feedback. If something’s not working I’d really like to know so I can try to fix it. It’s easy to contact me. Just leave a comment on the post, reply to the newsletter, or email me at hello@christianbookfinds.com. Likewise, if you find something that isn’t Christian or wholesome, or anything offensive, I’d like to know so I can remove it.

  • The people on the newsletter list are my special people. I don’t get along with social media (I would argue it doesn’t get along with me) and there’s nothing posted on Facebook or Twitter that isn’t found first on the blog and newsletter. There will be times where the newsletter will have special tidbits I don’t post anywhere else.

And there you have it. Now you have the inside scoop of how to get the most out of this site. Thanks for following along!
